Conditions required for the 2024 Humboldt Research Fellowship

 
To be eligible for the Humboldt Research Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Nationality: You must not be a German citizen. German citizens or those who earned their university degrees and doctorates in Germany may apply if they have lived and worked abroad for more than ten years.
• Postdocs: Submit two expert reviews from your doctoral supervisor and another researcher, ideally from outside your institute.
• Experienced Researchers: Provide feedback from significant collaboration partners and researchers at your own or other institutes, particularly from beyond your place of origin.
•  Language Skills: Natural sciences and engineering demand a good understanding of either German or English.
• Humanities, Social Sciences, and Medicine: A strong understanding of German is required if it is critical to your research; otherwise, a strong knowledge of English will suffice.

Benefits of Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers

·        Monthly stipend of €2,670 for 6-24 months.

·        Experienced researchers: A monthly stipend of €3,170 for 6 to 18 months, which can be split into up to three stays over three years.

·        Additional support: Personal support during the fellowship.

·        Before the fellowship, you and your married partner will attend intensive language training.

·        Financial assistance with family benefits, health insurance, and travel expenses.

Required Documents for a Successful Application

All applicants are expected to submit the following documents online:

·        Curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages)

·        Research outline (maximum of five pages)

·        A complete list of publications.

·        A list of chosen notable publications.

·        Key publications

·        Doctoral diploma or evidence of successful completion within the following six months
German language certificate, if required.

·        Publisher acceptance announcements and/or summaries/translations of major publications that are not available in German or English, if appropriate.

·        Host’s statement and confirmation of available research facilities

·        Two professional reviews.
