Nigeria’s 2024 EFCC Essay Contest: Application Guide and Prizes

Are you a student in Nigeria interested in writing? Are you interested in demonstrating talent and getting a chance to be an award winner? Look no further! It is in this regard that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is calling for entries for the second in its series of Essay Writing Competition for 2024.

Nigeria’s 2024 EFCC Essay Contest Details 

  • Eligibility: This competition is for students in secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
  • Prizes: The figure amounted to N1. To encourage them, writers will be rewarded cash prizes, which are to be given to the four million best essay entries.
  • Benefits: The selected individuals and institutions will be awarded certificates, trophies, and cash awards.

Requirements and Guidelines for Nigeria’s 2024 EFCC Essay Contest

  • Word Count: Tertiary category (1,500 words), Secondary category (1,000 words)
  • Formatting:
    • Line Spacing: Double-spaced
    • Font: Century Gothic, Size: 14
  • Topics:
    • Tertiary category: “Using Technology for Social Good: How Digital Skills Can Be Leveraged to Promote Transparency in Governance.”
    • Secondary category: “Exploring Alternatives to Cybercrimes for Sustainable Development”
  • Submission: Submission of the essay is between August 8, 2024, to Monday, September 9, 2024. All entries should be submitted to info@efcc.gov.ng.
  • Prize Breakdown
  • Tertiary Category:
    • Winner: N800,000
    • First runner-up: N500,000
    • Second runner-up: N300,000
  • Secondary Category:
    • Winner: N700,000
    • First runner-up: N400,000
    • Second runner-up: N300,000

How to Apply for Nigeria’s 2024 EFCC Essay Contest

  1. Draft, edit, and proofread your essay to meet the requirements.
  2. Send your entry to info@efcc.gov.ng.
  3. All selected winners will receive their awards presentation in Abuja during the Cybercrime Summit in October 2024.

Important Notes

  • Work should be the candidate’s work, all entries that have used AI or other means of cheating will be ineligible.
  • Prospective applicants who will not be allowed to participate in the competition include children, wards, and other relatives of staff of EFCC.
